No it's not. You're just going to have to work extra hard if you want to be a dancer. Take a few classes to start then add more as you progress. Good luck!!
I don't think it might be too late. I'm 16 and only have started ballet. It might take longer for us, but that depends on how much talent you have. So, take a chance. It's never too late.

It would be old school common for teachers to tell you that if you really want to be any good as in perform and dance professionally that you are starting to old in the game.

Do not believe em! If it turns out that you develop a passion for it, be prepared for bloody ugly feet, literally! And make it happen..

not at all! find a good studio with some girls your level and age and i'm sure you'll be fine. starting later can also be an advantage because you are more graceful and coodinated in your movements. good luck and happy dancing!
I started when i was 12, u can still do it, what you CANT do is spell, ballet requires intelligence.

My dance school has just opened an adults class- all of who haven't ever danced. They have lots of fun and it's great exercise. I don't think it is ever too late to start dancing- as long as you work hard and have fun, so give it your best shot!

i dont think it's too late.......just make sure you have ur heart set on it id did ballet wen i wuz 5 and now i started more jazz and musical theater and i'm 12

No its not I read a magazine and i saw a column there where a woman started dancing ballet at the age of 40!!!! many teens took ballet!!!! So ur age is just fine!!!

my old teacher said i was too old ( i started when i was 9)

but i found that with the right attitude and inspiration you can achieve what you want.

i can't stress how much you NEED a good teacher though...

check their qualifications its a must.. especially if you want to be a serious dancer

being 13 and beginning ballet is probably an advantage, you can learn quicker, understand more and not only is it good excersise it completely alters your posture and muscle tone its amazing!!
Yes start! I am 13 and i have spent a month thinking about weather to start . What i did was started a dance class that did ballet for half a lesson and a routin for the other half that how i got into ballet i then asked the teacher if i can start ballet anywere and she told me were.So i nagged my mum and i am going for the first time next monday! so go ahead and do it you will love it and soon you will have your first pointe shoes!
